The teaming approach is essential to building the sense of community at Baker Middle. TEAMing is also recognized as an effective way to meet the particular needs of the middle school student. TEAMing makes possible the collaborative approach, embedded professional development, and interdisciplinary teaching. In addition, when the TEAM approach is maximized, a sense of security and predictability is fostered for the students. Each teacher on the various TEAMS plays an important and vital role in establishing this.

When TEAMs of CORE and ENCORE teachers strategize to minimize the number of transitions that students face, the continuity better prepares the students for success. When TEAMs work together for the good of the ONE vision of the school, then students receive the benefit of the efforts.

Through the TEAMing approach, the sense of community is actually realized. Communities are where there is the embrace of a set of ideas and values. The "Learning Community" established at Baker Middle School requires all adults to embrace the vision and be on a mission to stay focused and on task.

We want to continually set up our students for success by: (1) observing time requirements, (2) always being prepared, (3) following all directives, (4) establishing and maintaining all policies and procedures, (5) engaging the students in rigorous and authentic work, (6) establishing good relationships with all!

At Baker Middle School we ARE TEAM players and have established a Learning Community were all are invited and students achieve more!
